"Vicarious" is the 7-minute first single from American progressive rock band Tool's fourth full-length studio album, 10,000 Days. Debuting April 17, 2006 on commercial radio, the song entered the [[Billboard magazine|BillboTemplate:Unicodeard]] Modern Rock Tracks chart at #2.[1] It received a nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 49th annual Grammy Awards.[2]

The song describes the vicarious thrill the public receives from hearing about the misfortunes of others in the media, despite refusal to admit it.[3]

Video

A video for "Vicarious" was said to have been near completion in July of 2006, but is yet to be released.[4] A DVD single may see concurrent release, similar in format to the previously released "Schism" and "Parabola" DVDs.Template:Fact
